Part of the task a production company is faced with is the ongoing creation of new shows. PSG has a team dedicated solely to the production of new show ideas. Once an idea is conceived, it is then presented to networks in the form of a show pitch. The written document of this is called a treatment.

A designed version of the treatment is then sent to network contacts in hopes of selling a show. If the show is well received, the networks may inquire further about the show idea. They may even pay for a demo.

The goal of a designed treatment is to get a network executive's attention long enough to create interest in the show idea.
